Owner Michael Wood grew up the oldest son of a carpenter. At the young age of six, he started tagging along with his father to job sites. As Michael grew, a strong work ethic and good reasoning skills were planted deeply into him by his father. Whenever a problem arose, his father would ask Michael how he would resolve the issue, not that his father would take Michael's advice, but he was teaching Michael the art of problem-solving in real-life lessons. When Michael graduated high school, he chose not to follow in his father's footsteps in the construction world. Instead, he took a job at a small manufacturing plant in Meadows of Dan after receiving a diploma from Rockingham Community College in the Machinist and Welding curriculum. He soon became a major contributor in the development and production of the machinery used by the manufacturing company. Michael's career blossomed as the locally owned company grew into a global company. Michael thought he had found a permanent home for all of his working days to come. But as often happens, after his 25 years run with the company, it came to an end when the company was sold. Michael could have relocated and continued the same type of work, but he could not imagine leaving Meadows of Dan's unique way of life.
So in 2010, Michael went back to his roots, and Woodbuilt Construction was born. By using his strong work ethic and problem-solving skills taught to him by his father, along with his eye for detail, touch for precision, and management skills developed over the past 25-year, Woodbuilt quickly became a premier custom home builder. Michael eagerly accepts the challenges that come with a custom-built 4,000 square foot home or a complete home remodel while still appreciating the farmer who asked him to build a hay shed. No matter the type or size of the project, Michael's promise to you is to build the best that can be built while meeting and exceeding all the visions you have for the project.
